Supporting Local Communities
Supporting Our People and the Communities We Live In
At Hillery Group, we believe that safety and wellbeing extend beyond the worksite – they are part of how we show up for each other and for the communities we live and work in. Our commitment to mental health, wellbeing, and community support is grounded in our core values: family, community, respect, and integrity.
We proudly support Real Mates Talk, a vital suicide prevention initiative that encourages open and honest conversations about mental health – particularly among men in regional areas. These conversations are often life-changing, and we’re committed to helping normalise them across our workforce and industry.
Each year, Hillery Group actively participates in R U OK? Day, using it as a reminder to check in, listen without judgment, and foster a culture of mateship. We also host Wellbeing Days aligned with significant health and awareness calendar events. These days provide space for reflection, connection, and education, and may include guest speakers, team BBQs, awareness campaigns, and toolbox talks focused on resilience, mental health, and self-care.
In addition to supporting our team, we are proud champions of the local community. Hillery Group is an avid supporter and sponsor of local organisations in Bowen and the Whitsundays, contributing not only financial assistance but also in-kind donations such as quarry materials and labour to support vital community projects. Whether it’s helping build infrastructure for local sporting clubs, supporting school events, or responding to community needs during challenging times, we believe in giving back to the people who support us.
We are 100% committed to preserving and enhancing the communities we are part of. Our reputation for helping Bowen and the broader region thrive is something we take great pride in – and we’re always looking for ways to deepen our impact.
At Hillery Group, wellbeing is not a one-off initiative – it's an everyday commitment. Together, we’re building a safer, stronger, and more connected future for our people and our region.

Charities & Groups We Support
At Hillery Group, we are passionate about continually supporting local charities and community groups across the Whitsunday region. The last few years, Hillery Group have been proud sponsors of the Whitsunday Mayors Ball, who raise critical funds for local community groups.
Hillery Group encourages applications from local community groups and organisations that deliver outcomes for the broad community, particularly in the following areas:
- Health
- Youth
- Education
- Environment
- Community clubs & groups
- Socio-economic & dependent groups, companies & associations
- Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander groups & organisations
- Sporting clubs from junior to senior
- High influencer organisations
We review each application and award based on our selection criteria and ensuring that we have synergies that benefit both parties.
Providing Local Opportunities
Our company is 100% Indigenous-owned, employing over 120 people to serve the Whitsunday Region. We are committed to investing in ongoing training and employing local people is our top priority.
With our business located on the traditional lands of the Juru people, we have previously worked with Girudala, Juru and Kyburra inhabitants. More than 15% of our workforce is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. We are continuously creating more opportunities for a higher intake of indigenous employees in our region.
Our company recruits young apprentices and trainees from local communities regularly. Where possible, we offer long-term employment opportunities to those who complete our rigorous training process. We work with local subcontractor fleets and suppliers, and will always source and purchase locally whenever possible to help support the Whitsunday economy.
